Ingress Recruitment

You have chosen to become an agent of Ingress. Brave choice. You will help shape humanity. Nothing will be the same again.

You could simply install Ingress, and I will wish you good luck. But, if you have the patience to let me send you a recruitment email before you install Ingress then I will get a much coveted recruitment medal. In return, I will guide you during your initiation and give you tips on how to become an effective agent.

Ingress require you to log on using a Google Account. I must send the invitation to the e-mail address linked to that account.

Do you have an iPhone or an Android phone (Samsung, HTC etc)

All Android phones have a google account, so you just need to look it up. There are several ways to do this.

Open Settings > Cloud and Accounts > Accounts > Google. It should be at the top.
Open Settings > Google > Sign-in & Security. It should be at the top.
Open the Play Store and click the menu icon . The email should be under your name at the top right.

Let's first see if you already have a google account connected with your normal e-mail address. (whatever you normally use for email)

Go to https://accounts.google.com and enter your e-mail into the form and click 'Next'.

Seems like your e-mail is not linked to a Google Account. This is easily fixed!

Go to https://accounts.google.com/SignUp.
Click "I prefer to use my current email address" and fill out the form.
Go to your e-mail and click the confirmation link to finish the Google Account creation.
Go back to https://accounts.google.com and try to sign in.

Great! Your email is already connected to a Google Account. Try to log in.

Do you remember the password? If not, click 'Forgot password?' and try to restore it.

This is not your day, is it? What we'll do now is create a GMail account (which is also a Google Account) and you'll use it to log on to Ingress.

Go to https://accounts.google.com/SignUp.
Fill in the form. Make note of the username you pick. The e-mail address you'll send me later will be username@gmail.com

The invitation email and my 'Beginners Guide to Ingress' e-mail will be sent to your new GMail account. You probably don't want to start logging on to GMail to check for these emails, so follow the steps found here to forward e-mails sent to your Gmail to your normal e-mail.

Remember that it is your GMail address you will send me in the next step and that you will use to log on to Ingress.

Great! Enter the google account e-mail and click send. As soon as I see your request, I'll initiate your recruitement. I'll also send you an e-mail with a beginners guide. You can reply to that e-mail with any questions you have. And if you'd like help connecting with local agents, I'll be happy to assist in that too.

While you wait for the emails, you may want to think of a good agent name. Agent names can (usually) not be changed, so choose wisely.

People will see your agent name in log messages like these:

[Insert Name] created a control field
[Insert Name] linked XYZ to ABC
Your portal XYZ is under attack by [Insert Name]
Your portal XYZ neutralized by [Insert Name]
